Steve Clarke believes his West Bromwich Albion players have the hunger and motivation to ensure their season does not fizzle out after securing a fourth successive season of Premier League football.

Albion hit the 43-point mark and seventh spot after Saturday's 2-1 home win against Swansea City, with the help of Romelu Lukaku's 13th goal of the campaign.

Their manager has conceded that reaching Europe may be beyond them but is confident they will not take their foot off the pedal in the final quarter of the season.

Clarke said: "The motivation is good. We had a chat before we went to Chelsea last week about moving into the final part of the season.

"I asked them to show me at Stamford Bridge that they had the desire to stay in the top half of the table and to push on.

"I saw enough there despite losing 1-0 to know we could look forward to the last 10 games. We showed that last week and against Swansea. It was important for the players that they put on a performance like that and important they got three points against a very good Swansea team.

"Swansea have had a fantastic season, deserve all the accolades they get and have won one of the three domestic trophies. But we will look to kick on and finish above them in the table if we can.

"The players have the hunger. This was our ninth win at home, and not many other teams in the division will have nine home wins. We will try to get more points on the board.

"That is the only focus for us now, the next game and to get as many points between now and the end of the season."
