Burnley striker Marvin Sordell claims his team-mates are relishing the chance to disprove their tag as Premier League relegation favourites.

The Clarets head into Sunday’s match against West Bromwich Albion without a win, second from bottom and having earned three points from their opening five league games. But Sordell insists morale remains high among Burnley’s squad.

“A lot of people have already written us off,” Sordell said. “It’s a tight-knit group, with great unity and a lot of quality. Enough to survive in the Premier League.

“This league is one of the toughest in the world, but I think the wins are going to come.”

Burnley have scored just once this season, and despite 555 minutes without a goal, Sordell said: “As long as we are getting the opportunities, we will get there. The goals are not far away.”
