West Ham 2 Liverpool 0 reaction: Jurgen Klopp says it is a 'day to be angry' after poor performance
The German coach was visibly angered by his side's poor display at Upton Park
Jurgen Klopp criticised his Liverpool players' performance after they went down 2-0 against West Ham United, claiming it was "a day to be disappointed, it's a day to be angry".
Despite coming into the game on the back of two straight wins, Liverpool barely troubled their hosts during Saturday's lunchtime kick-off.
The visitors showed some fight after Michail Antonio's early headed effort opened the scoring but, after Andy Carroll also notched with his head in the second half, the points never looked like leaving London.
"Not enough. Not enough in the decisive moments. It's two crosses and few set-plays," said a visibly Klopp.
"We had a lot of possession, we had bad luck in a few situations, but that's not what I want to see to be honest. In the decisive moments you have to be there and we are responsible for the result. In a game like this, where you see you can be better, you have to be better. You have to win."
Left-back Alberto Moreno appeared to be fouled in the move prior to Antonio's opener, causing many of Klopp's players to dispute the awarding of the goal. Klopp, however, insisted that his team should have played to whistle, regardless of whether they felt their team-mate had been impeded.
"I saw in the eyes of my players that they thought it was a foul but, if there's no whistle, you have to defend. We didn't defend the cross, 1-0. Second goal, we played five against one on the right wing and didn't win the ball. That's not pressing.
"It's not a day for being disappointed, it's a day for being angry with ourselves."
"In each moment of this game we could've come back but we didn't. Who wants to see 90 per cent? You can't win a football game with 90 per cent or 95. Nobody wants to see this. You have to do everything. We lost in decisive moments, that can happen, but you have to use your chance more."
