Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has hit out at the media and threatened to stop giving them the “good and funny headlines” after he was captured on video earlier this week appearing to push a 14-year-old boy.

Mourinho is under pressure to turn Chelsea’s faltering season around after a poor start to the defence of the Premier League title. The Blues took the first step to that recovery by seeing off Aston Villa 2-0 last weekend, although a 0-0 draw with Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday continued their Champions League struggles.

However, this week’s headlines regarded a public incident that involved Mourinho in which he was accused of pushing a young boy while walking through the Knightsbridge area of London. Mourinho was also filmed in an angry exchange with another young Chelsea fan.

Ahead of this weekend’s short trip across London to face West Ham, Mourinho was in no mood to talk at his pre-match press conference.

"You don't get from me good and funny headlines," said Mourinho. "I'm going to treat your bosses the same way they treat me. No respect, no respect.

"And I'm not speaking about football. Football I'm ready to accept any kind of criticism, even the stupid ones.

"Private life and stupid things that you bring to light, I don't like it. So we go to a different level of professional relationship."

Another journalist asked Mourinho if he changed how he felt about walking in public in London, but a Chelsea spokesperson interrupted to state that legal complications meant the issue could not be discussed.

"We've noted the two recent stories concerning Jose being filmed on mobile phones,” the spokesperson said.

"While Jose understands the laws pertaining to filming in public places, the two teenagers in question followed him from his home for 20 minutes and constantly interrupted a private phone call, which he and the club believes goes beyond the grounds of reasonable behaviour.

Both Jose and the club consider these last two instances as overly intrusive

"Jose has always spoken warmly of the public reception he receives in London, but both Jose and the club consider these last two instances as overly intrusive.

"We also note the allegation of intimidation in those stories, which Jose strongly refutes and which his legal representatives will continue to monitor closely."

Before he addressed the media stories surrounding his personal life, Mourinho did address the current state of the Chelsea squad and how his relationship with the players is amid talk of the Portuguese losing the dressing room.

"For me I don't go to the crisis direction. I go match after match - no more than that,” he added, before addressing whether out-of-form wing Eden Hazard will start against the Hammers.

"Both clean sheets based on good team work [not just the goalkeeper]. I try to best decisions for the team, I analyse what I think the game can be, I try to reduce the unpredictability of every match. You are right, this is not about defenders it's about the team as a team and they defended well in both our last matches.

"Hazard was part of that team that kept a clean sheet. I don't know [if he'll play on Saturday]."

West Ham v Chelsea- Premier League preview

Mourinho was keen to stress the difficulties of travelling to the Ukraine in midweek and returning to face an in-form side in West Ham, who sit in fourth position in the Premier league table – eight places ahead of the Blues.

"It's not easy week,” he said. “We play Tuesday and it's better that you have one more day than the 48 hours we had before we went to Kiev.

"Look to the table, see where they are, see where we are, and then it's easy to take conclusions.”

He added: "Every point is really important. It's a difficult situation [in the Champions League] Premier League is different - there are 38 matches. In Premier League we are not afraid to lose matches, we are going to play normal.

"The victory against Aston Villa was a very good result, the draw against Kiev was a positive result. To give you one example - Matic went from being on the bench vs Villa to be the Man of the Match for Uefa three days later."
