Celtic extended their unbeaten Scottish Premiership run to 23 games since the start of the season with a 4-0 thumping of Kilmarnock at Parkhead but Charlie Mulgrew insists the Hoops dressing room is unconcerned about making or breaking records.

Mulgrew's second-half strike against a cowed Rugby Park outfit came after fellow midfielder Joe Ledley and an own goal from Killie defender Lee Ashcroft had given the home side a comfortable interval lead.

A late goal from substitute Amido Balde confirmed the gulf between the two sides as leaders Celtic went 18 points clear of second-placed Aberdeen.

Another clean sheet means the champions equalled the club record of 10, last achieved in 1921/22 but Mulgrew insists the players are not discussing such statistics.

The Scotland international said: "We are not trying to think too much about records.

"We don't speak too much about it.

"I know it is there in the background and sometimes it is hard to ignore but - and I know it is a cliche - we are trying to take one game at a time and do the best we can.

"It was a good result and good performance and the manager is keeping us on our toes."

Kilmarnock boss Allan Johnston kept top scorer Kris Boyd on the bench due to tight calves but is hoping the 30-year-old striker will be fit for the visit of Ross County on Saturday, along with new signing Alexei Eremenko.

The Finland international has agreed a deal to return to the Ayrshire club for a second spell until the end of the season but was not involved at Celtic Park.

Johnston said: "He has not had clearance. We will have a chat with him and see if he will be fit enough to be on the bench.

"He hasn't even trained in the last few months so will take a couple of weeks to get match fit."
