Hibs get a headstart on Athens
Hibernian's Canadian international Paul Fenwick believes his side have a big advantage over their Uefa Cup opponents AEK Athens – match sharpness.
The Greeks, quarter-finalists last season, are strong favourites for tonight's first-round, first-leg at home – even though the Greek domestic season has started.
Fenwick said: "We realise we are up against quality opposition, but maybe it's a little fortunate for us that their season hasn't kicked off yet."
Hibs' Matthias Jack needs a late fitness test for his foot injury.
The Kilmarnock captain, Frederic Dindeleux, believes if his former club Lille can give Manchester United a Champions' League scare, there is no reason why they themselves cannot make strides against Viking Stavanger in the first round of the Uefa Cup.
He said of Lille: "Their success was down to hard work and, like Kilmarnock, they have not had a lot of money to spend, but they have good players and their biggest strength is that they work as a team."
