Andrew Little has returned to Rangers after suffering knee ligament damage while on loan at Port Vale. The 22-year-old midfielder was injured during a 4-0 defeat to Morecambe at the weekend and will be assessed by the Murray Park medical team following his return to Glasgow.

Little's time at Ibrox was also blighted by injury and he had hoped for some much-needed first-team action before enduring this latest setback, but he has refused to rule out a return to Vale Park.

He told Rangers' official website: "I was looking to win the ball in the air for a flick-on when I realised I wasn't going to get there and I checked out and turned.

"As I did that one of my team-mates fell right on top of me and his full weight landed on my left knee. I could feel right away that something was wrong and I came off immediately.

"It's just typical of my luck but I just hope that it's not serious. I will see what Stevie Walker, the physio, says today.

"I still have nine and a half weeks left of the loan deal so I am hoping there is a chance that I can go back down. I was enjoying it there because I was getting some game time, but I will just have to wait and see."

The Rangers manager, Ally McCoist, has backed the Sweden Under-21 striker Joe Sise to impress while on trial with the Scottish champions.

Sise, who played with Halmstad, arrived in Scotland yesterday and the manager is looking forward to seeing him in action.

McCoist told Rangers TV: "He has agreed to come over and do a bit of training with us so we will have a look at him this week."

"It's a learning exercise," added McCoist, who admitted to concerns about strength in depth in the forward department. "He can have a look at Murray Park and we can have a look at him and, hopefully, he will enjoy it.

"We have watched him a few times and we have seen videos of him and we feel he is someone who can come in and impress. He has scored one or two goals in a team that has been relegated so that is an impressive aspect.

"I think up front is probably one area we would like to strengthen. We feel we are strong in other areas and I just feel we can be caught short up front.

"Nikica [Jelavic] had a bit of sickness before the Hearts game and actually Kyle Lafferty had a bit of a spasm in his back so we were a bit lucky that both of them were available.

"It could have been the case that we had neither of them and then we would have had a bit of a problem. So if we could strengthen that area then I would be happy to do so."
