Angel Di Maria to Bayern Munich: Manchester United to make £24m loss as club want '£35m' for Argentina flop

Reports in Germany state the two clubs are negotiating, despite Pep stating otherwise

Manchester United are preparing to take a £24million hit on Angel Di Maria, if reports in Germany are to be believed.

Despite Bayern boss Pep Guardiola stating on Thursday that he has no interest in the Argentina winger, Christian Falk, chief Bayern reporter for German newspaper Bild, says that Manchester United transfer mogul Ed Woodward wants just €50million for the 27-year-old.

That equates to just £35.56m - a £24.14m loss on the British record £59.7m fee United paid less than a year ago to bring the winger to Old Trafford from Real Madrid.

Di Maria helped Argentina reach the final of the Copa America with two goals in the semi-final, but has admitted that he is unhappy with his life in Manchester - because he doesn't know why Louis van Gaal doesn't pick him.

Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the winger now that their Financial Fair Play penalties have been lifted.

Speaking on Thursday, Guardiola admitted that he believed Di Maria is a "great player".

"I don't have to watch Argentina games, because I know him and his style of playing very well," Guardiola told reporters.

"United did not pay so much money for nothing, he is a great player. Although such transfer fees are sometimes really crazy."

When asked if he was interested in signing Di Maria, Guardiola replied: "No."

He also said that he did not want to sell Bastian Schweinsteiger, a target for Manchester United.
