Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria is eager to join Argentina team-mate Javier Pastore at Paris Saint-Germain, Pastore has revealed.

Di Maria signed for United for a British-record £59.7m last summer, but after an impressive start at the club, he faltered towards the second half of the season.

The winger is expected to complete his move to PSG soon, with the French side's manager Laurent Blanc even saying last week that the transfer was close.

"I told him to join us," Pastore told Le Parisien. "He also asked me many questions about the club, the city and the way of life for his family.

"He wants to come. He is a very great player. Plus, he alone can win important matches."

Reports in Paris have claimed that the two clubs have reached an agreement over a £44m transfer that will see Di Maria leave the Premier League club just a year after completing his move from Real Madrid.

Having been afforded extra holiday by United due to his Copa America commitments with Argentina, Di Maria was due to re-join the squad last Saturday during their four-match US tour, but he failed to make the journey across the Atlantic and manager Louis van Gaal publicly admitted that he had “no idea” where the winger had gone.
