Arsenal officials have flown out to Switzerland to complete the imminent signing of Mohamed Elneny from FC Basel, according to reports.

A fee of around £7.3m has been agreed for the 23-year-old and a medical completed - the only hold up is receiving international clearance for the Egyptian, although the issue is expected to be resolved.

Earlier this week, a statement on Basel's website explained the midfielder's absence from training because "there could be a transfer in the coming days".

And just yesterday, Elneny's Basel team-mate Albian Ajeti let slip that Elneny was on his way to the Premier League leaders, writing on Facebook alongside a picture of the pair:

"I'm happy for you Mohamed El Nenny success in Arsenal," the 18-year-old wrote.

The Gunners are also closing in on the signing of another midfielder, Paris Saint-Germain's Adrien Rabiot.

Rabiot has previously spoken of his frustration at his lack of playing time at PSG, and a report from Ita Sport Press claims that his mother, who also works as his agent, is over in London for talks with Arsenal .

The 20-year-old Frenchman, who has yet to represent his country at full international level, is rated at £15m.

Wantaway Mathieu Debuchy continues to be linked with a transfer away from the Emirates.

Today he has been linked with a loan move to Serie A club Roma, where he could join fellow Arsenal player Wojciech Szczesny, who is there until the end of the season.

Debuchy has lost his regular place at right-back to Hector Bellerin, and has publcly expressed his desire to leave the club to get more playing time ahead of Euro 2016.
