Arsene Wenger has admitted that Arsenal will be "actively involved" in the transfer window until the very last moment.

But the Arsenal boss hinted that the Gunners may not be in the market for a striker, despite the ankle injury that will keep Olivier Giroud out until at least December.

"All [transfer negotiations] need to be as secret as possible," said Wenger, speaking at his Friday press conference ahead of the match with Leicester.

"I will actively be involved on deadline day. I will be on alert until the last minute."

Wenger, however, pointed to the players already in his squad when asked about a possible Giroud replacement.

"We have Yaya Sanogo, we have Alexis Sanchez, we have Theo Walcott, we have Lukas Podolski," he added.

On deadline day last summer Wenger managed to bring in Mesut Ozil for £42.5m from Real Madrid.

"We have shown in the last two seasons that if there are [players to buy], we will do it.

"The last few days [of the transfer window] are like poker games."
