Real Sociedad want Arsenal to sell their buy-back clause on Mexican striker Carlos Vela.

The 25-year-old had the best season of his career last term, scoring 21 times for a team who finished seventh in La Liga.

The Gunners still hold 50 per cent of Vela’s right after selling him to the Spanish club for around £2.5million last summer, and could bring him back to the Emirates for as little as £3.5m.

Vela’s form has interested Arsene Wenger who is looking for back-up to overburdened first choice striker Olivier Giroud. The Gunners have also been linked with AC Milan's Mario Balotelli and QPR's Loic Remy.

According to reports, however, Sociedad club president Jokin Aperribay has flown to London to negotiate for the outstanding 50 per cent.

But Arsenal will drive a hard bargain for the Mexican, who did not make the World Cup squad, demanding up to £8m to make the move permanent.
