Arsene Wenger labelled Petr Cech "one of the outstanding keepers in the world" as it was announced that the Czech had completed his move to Arsenal.

The 33-year-old has been on the verge of switching from Chelsea to their London and Premier League rivals for the last week but it was today confirmed that the Gunners had completed what may go down as the scalp of the summer.

Wenger was clearly beaming at the news.

“Petr Cech is a player that I have admired for a long time and I am very pleased that he has decided to join us," Wenger told the club's website.

Wenger added: "He has proven over many seasons that he is one of the outstanding keepers in the world and he will add great strength to our squad.”

Cech won four Premier League titles, four FA Cup, three League Cups and the Champions League during his time at Stamford Bridge.
