Borussia Dortmund have issued an ultimatum to Arsenal over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, warning that the north Londoners must meet their transfer “demands” or face missing out on the forward’s signature.

Arsenal have already seen an initial £44m bid for the 28-year-old rejected but are continuing to hold talks with Dortmund as they attempt to reach an agreed transfer fee for the player.

The Germans remain open to selling Aubameyang but have made it clear that certain demands must be met.

Dortmund's sporting director Michael Zorc said: "We are prepared to implement a transfer under certain parameters, and only if these parameters are fully met.

"Arsenal have made several attempts so far [to sign Aubameyang] and they have all been rejected.

"Either our demands are fulfilled, then there can be another transfer, or they will not be fulfilled and Aubameyang will play in Dortmund until the summer.

"By the way, this has also been discussed with and accepted by the Aubameyang family."

As reported by The Independent earlier this week, there is a “considerable difference” between the two clubs’ evaluations of Aubameyang.

Arsenal are also willing to include Olivier Giroud as part of the deal, but the Bundesliga club would rather a high cash offer, likely in excess of £65m.

Aubameyang was restored to Dortmund’s team for the side’s league game against Freiburg today having been dropped for the last two matches due to poor discipline.

With the transfer window set to close next Wednesday, Arsenal face a race against the clock to get the deal formalised, with manager Arsene Wenger admitting yesterday that “we are from being close” to securing the transfer.

When asked on Friday about Arsenal's pursuit of Aubameyang, Wenger said: "I cannot tell you more, nothing to announce today.

"At the moment we stay where we are. It's still possible [something could happen] but we are far from being close."
