Raheem Sterling transfer news: Can Liverpool hold on to star midfielder?
It is rumoured Liverpool are prepared to sell the 20-year-old winger for £50 million.
James Olley, Chief Football Correspondent for the London Evening Standard, explains what kind of deal we could see for the Liverpool attacker.
It seems clear Raheem Sterling wants to leave Liverpool to join one of Europe’s elite clubs. And the question on everyone’s lips is who can afford him? Manchester City have made the first move with a reported £25 million bid; but Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Chelsea are all on standby to see what figure Liverpool will accept.
It is reported that Liverpool will consider selling Sterling for £50 million which certainly rules out Arsenal, who were interested in the winger. A possible deal involving Theo Walcott moving to Liverpool could take place; but the striker’s hot form in the last few weeks of the season is likely to persuade Arsene Wenger to offer him a new contract.
