Charlie Austin latest: Striker set to stay at QPR after turning down Crystal Palace transfer
The 26-year-old has been tipped to move all summer
Charlie Austin will stay at Queen’s Park Rangers until January at the earliest, having turned down a move to Crystal Palace.
It was Palace who had the longest-standing interest in the players, especially once they agreed a deal this week to sell Glenn Murray to Bournemouth. Valued at £15m at the start of the window by his club, there was interest at different stages in Austin from Newcastle, Everton and Bournemouth.
The 26-year-old striker who scored 18 goals in the Premier League last season is out of contract at QPR next summer and will have a greater range of options open to him. He has aspirations to get back in the England squad. Roy Hodgson selected him for the friendly against Ireland and the Euro 2016 qualifier in Slovenia in June but he was not capped.
Austin felt moved to release a statement last month to rebut insinuations from David Sullivan that a longstanding knee issue meant that he could breakdown at any time.
