WHAT HAVE CHELSEA DONE?
They've been very busy, even if the players mostly strongly moved with arrivals haven't quite signed on the dotted line just yet.
Four prospects have been sent out on loan, while Ramires, a popular and important part of the squad for the last five years left for China after a whopping offer from Jiangsu Suning.
Alexandre Pato and Matt Miazga are reported to be in London ahead of completing moves this week.
Ramires - Jiangsu Suning £25million
Christian Atsu - Malaga (loan)
Papy Djilobodji - Werder Bremen (loan)
Alex Kiwomya - Fleetwood Town (loan)
Mitchell Beeney - Newport County (loan)
WHAT DO THEY NEED?
Despite having not played in Europe since 2012, Alexandre Pato fills a desperate need up front. With Radamel Falcao always injured and Loic Remy not wanted and no longer wanting to be at the club, the Blues are desperately short of options behind Diego Costa.
On paper Chelsea have a very strong squad but the players have simply under-performed. Oscar has been better since the arrival of Guus Hiddink but the Blues have been missing a top quality No 10 since the premature sale of Juan Mata. That position is not likely to be filled in this window, however.
WHAT MIGHT ACTUALLY HAPPEN?
Pato and Miazga will arrive sooner or later. Gary Cahill may want to leave but the Blues would be mad to allow an experienced international footballer leave and be replaced by Miazga, a 20-year-old who has never played outside of the US.
John Terry will need to be replaced but that can wait until the summer, although in the unlikely event someone like Thiago Silva is actually available Chelsea should pounce.
The Blues are also linked with various attacking players (Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez, Robin van Persie) but again, they seem rather fanciful with Pato close.
Loic Remy surely will leave.
