After weeks of speculation Chelsea have finally confirmed the signing of Marseille's Michy Batshuayi in a transfer deal reportedly worth £33m.

The Blues fought off interest from Premier League rivals Tottenham and Crystal palace to land the Belgium international.

Batshuayi is Chelsea's first signing of the summer and is expected to boost their attacking options under Antonio Conte.

The player had confirmed his departure from Marseille yesterday in an open letter he wrote to the fans. He reaffirmed his exit with a tweet in which he said: "This should be formalised tomorrow, I will leave Olympic Marseille this summer."

Speaking to chelseafc.com, the player said: "I am delighted to sign for one of the biggest clubs in Europe and embark on the next chapter in my career.

"I hope I can help Chelsea win many trophies during my time at Stamford Bridge.

"Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois have told me many good things about the club, and with Antonio Conte coming in it's an exciting time to become a Chelsea player.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for myself and my family, I am looking forward to playing in the Premier League next season."

The player starred in Belgium's Euro 2016 campaign and came on late in his side's last-16 match against Hungary to score with his first touch of the game.

But he struggled to make the same impact in Belgium's quarter-final clash with Wales in which they slumped to a 3-1 defeat.

Batshuayi has more than impressed for Marseille though. The Belgian scored 23 goals and provided 10 assists last season as his side struggled to 13th in the league.
