Jose Mourinho has seen a £100million move for Real Madrid pair Gareth Bale and Raphael Varane rejected by the Spanish club, according to reports.
The Chelsea manager is a long-time fan of the French centre-back, having been the man to bring him to the Spanish capital, and is interested in the Welsh winger who has struggled at the Bernabeu this seasn.
But, according to The Sun, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has told Chelsea that the pair are not for sale.
Bale, bought for a world record £87m in 2013, has scored 19 goals in 45 matches this season, but has been booed by sections of the Real Madrid support and has seen his car struck twice by fans waiting outside the training ground.
Varane, still only 21, is believed to be unhappy at being Carlo Ancelotti's third-choice centre back. He has started just 29 matches in all competitions this season, with Sergio Ramos and Pepe the first-choice pairing.
