Tom Cleverley appears destined to leave Manchester United, however his destination is far from certain.

The 13-time capped England international will be allowed to leave Old Trafford, with Louis van Gaal understood to have sanctioned his departure.

That has led to a scramble for his services with Aston Villa, QPR, Everton and Hull City all thought to be keen on the 25-year-old.

Aston Villa were thought to be leading the battle for his services, although matching Cleverley's wage demands is apparently a stumbling block. It's hoped that the presence of former Manchester United captain Roy Keane could smooth the way, however reports suggest Villa have pulled out of the deal over the demands.

Hull City are also understood to be prepared to meet the £7m valuation Manchester United have put on the midfielder.

Everton are interested in adding Cleverley to their midfield, particularly with Ross Barkley sidelined with a knee injury. However, Manchester United are not keen on letting the midfielder join a rival for the top four, but would prefer a permanent deal if one is done. The Independent understands Everton are more interested in a loan.

Harry Redknapp is always keen on a deadline-day deal, although the imminent arrival of Tottenham's Sandro at QPR perhaps suggests the Cleverley rumours are wide of the mark.
