Gareth Bale to Manchester United: Real Madrid unrest 'to spark £75m bid'

Change of manager at the Bernabeu has given Manchester United renewed hope of signing long-term target

Manchester United are readying a £75m-plus bid for Gareth Bale, with the club given hope of signing the forward due to the unrest at Real Madrid, according to reports.

Real Madrid yesterday sacked manager Rafa Benitez, a major supporter of Bale, and immediately replaced him with former 'Galactico' and youth-team coach Zinedine Zidane.

Bale is understood to be disappointed to see the back of Benitez having thrived under the former Liverpool and Chelsea manager, scoring nine goals in 13 league appearances this season. Whether Zidane views Bale so centrally in his plans remains to be seen.

The situation has reportedly given Manchester United hope that Bale, who they tried to sign when he left Tottenham in 2013, could be snatched away from the Bernabeu.

The Wales international would solve many of the clubs issues, with the pace and goals that he provides appearing to be what is missing from Louis van Gaal's side.

Such a big-money offer and the funds it would provide could prove appealing to Real Madrid and their new manager if an overhaul of the squad is what they believe is required to move the club on from Benitez's short reign.
