Harry Kane worth more than Gareth Bale: Transfer value of Tottenham striker higher than former Spurs star

Research suggests the England international has a higher market value

Harry Kane has a higher transfer value than the world's most expensive player, Gareth Bale, according to research.

After a remarkable breakthrough season at Tottenham in which the striker scored 21 Premier League goals and made his England debut, the youngster's value has been put at between £39.4m-£43.4m.

In comparison, former Tottenham favourite Bale - who was sold to Real Madrid two years ago for £86m - is valued at £37.8m-£41.6m.

The analysis was carried out by the Football Observatory, a research group within the International Centre for Sports Studies that provides data to the likes of Fifa and Uefa. The figure is based on a variety of factors, including age, contract length, position, international status, performance, experience and the club that they currently play for.

It suggests that 21-year-old Kane - who said recently he has no desire to leave despite being linked with Manchester United - is the 15th move valuable player from Europe's top five leagues, one place ahead of Bale.

Within the Premier League, Kane is the seventh most valuable, with Eden Hazard, Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling, Diego Costa, Alexis Sanchez and Cesc Fabregas coming ahead.

The most expensive player from the top five leagues is unsurprisingly Lionel Messi, who is valued at between £188.2m-£207m.
