Chelsea were last night reported to be close to clinching their second major signing of the summer with Brazilian striker Hulk set to join from Porto for a fee of £38m.
Just days after agreeing a £32m deal to bring playmaker Eden Hazard from Lille, the attempt to bring in Hulk marks the renewed determination of owner Roman Abramovich to rebuild the side despite Chelsea's recent Champions League triumph. Hulk has won 10 caps for Brazil and is expected to sign once personal terms are finalised.
Meanwhile, Chelsea's John Terry has been banned for three matches for his dismissal in the Champions League semi-final. He missed the final and is now ineligible for the Super Cup match against Atletico Madrid in August, as well as Chelsea's first Champions League group-stage game in September.
