Jack Wilshere has completed a season-long loan move to Bournemouth in one of the more remarkable stories of transfer deadline day.

The 24-year-old was told by Gunners manager Arsene Wenger to find a new club for the next 12 months to aid his recovery from injury and to keep him in the mind of England manager Sam Allardyce ahead of the winter World Cup qualifiers.

"Jack is a fantastic addition to the club," commented chief executive Neill Blake. "He is a player that needs no introduction and one that, quite rightly, our supporters will be excited to see in a Bournemouth shirt.

"He will bring a wealth of international and Premier League experience, so we are delighted to be able to welcome a player of his calibre to the club."

Wilshere has held talks with both Roma and Crystal Palace on deadline day but, as those negotiations fell through, the paperwork was finalised on a surprising move to the Vitality Stadium.

After holding talks with both Bournemouth manager Howe and Palace boss Alan Pardew on Tuesday night, Wilshere is believed to have been impressed with the former’s interest in him, and the former Bolton loanee completing a move to the Premier League side before the 23:00 transfer deadline.

Signing the Arsenal midfielder represents a major coup for Howe and the wider Bournemouth back-room team as they look to establish themselves in the top-flight this season.
