James Milner to Arsenal: Alan Smith 'reveals' Manchester City midfielder is heading to Emirates
England international out of contract this summer
Arsenal have moved back into pole position in the race to sign James Milner this summer after former Gunner Alan Smith revealed he understood that is where the England international is heading.
Milner is out of contract this summer and although Manchester City are keen for him to remain, it looks increasingly unlikely that a new deal will be agreed between the club and the 29-year-old.
There are no shortage of suitors for the former Newcastle and Aston Villa player who has 53 caps for England and won two league titles.
It had been reported that Liverpool were leading the race for the soon-to-be free agent, however according to Smith, Milner is heading to the Emirates.
The former Arsenal striker said he had heard that the midfielder would be joining Arsenal this summer.
Reports suggest Arsenal will need to offer Milner, who is also courting interest from Inter Milan, a four-year deal to seal the switch.
