Juventus 'not disappointed' to miss out on signing Radamel Falcao, who joined Manchester United

The Colombian striker was linked with a host of teams before moving to Old Trafford

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri insists he is not disappointed to have missed out on signing Radamel Falcao.

The Colombian forward had been on the Juve radar for the majority of the summer, with the Italian champions looking to bring in another striker after losing new signing Alvaro Morata to a knee injury.

Manchester United announced on Monday they had acquired Falcao on a season-long loan from Monaco, with an option to make the deal permanent next summer.

"We missed out on Falcao? I'm not disappointed," Allegri said to Turin-based sports newspaper Tuttosport. "I am satisfied with the transfer market the club has done.

"Juve has made intelligent moves in the transfer market.

"We haven't bought players for the sake of it."

Juve spent 20million euros to sign Spanish striker Morata from Real Madrid and purchased French defender Patrice Evra from Manchester United for 1.5million euros.

They didn't - but expect lots of talk next summer.

Much of the summer focus has been on the lack of attacking options at Arsenal. That didn't stop one of those already there being persistently linked with a move away. Having been sent out on loan to Sunderland last season and an influx of players arriving at Anfield, it seemed Borini was certain to leave Anfield. QPR and Sunderland in particular were in the mix but amid accusations of crazy wage demands the striker stayed put. He said after the close of the window that he was: 'VERY happy with myself'.

Juve began the Serie A campaign with a 1-0 win at Chievo, Allegri's first Serie A game in charge since replacing Antonio Conte in the Bianconeri hotseat.
