ARRIVALS…

Liverpool could look to solve their goalkeeper troubles with a loan move for Barcelona’s unhappy stopper Marc-Andre ter Stegen. The young German was given a rare start in Barcelona’s 5-0 Copa del Rey win over Elche last night, but he has admitted that he is not comfortable with playing second fiddle to Claudio Bravo at the Nou Camp and a short-term switch to Anfield could be the solution, according to The Mirror. Ter Stegen only arrived in Spain in the summer, but is held in high regard having proven himself to be a very capable goalkeeper despite his tender age of 22.

Lyon winger Alexandre Lacazette has dropped a hint that he could be on his way to the Premier League amid interest from both Liverpool and Arsenal. The 23-year-old Frenchman has been linked with a move away from the Ligue 1 club, and he confirmed this week that his future lies in “England or Spain.” Lacazette had also been reported to be on Paris St-Germain’s radar, but the players own reservations about the playing time he would receive looks to have ended any chance of him moving to the French champions.

HEADING FOR THE EXIT…

Lucas Leiva looks increasingly likely to leave Anfield this month as the club are reported to be willing to accept a £7m bid for the 28-year-old midfielder. The Evening Standard reported that former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is keen on bringing the Brazilian to the Serie A, although Lucas' departure would leave Brendan Rodgers without a natural defensive midfielder.

NEAR MISSES…

Xherdan Shaqiri had been heavily linked with a move to Anfield this season, but it was confirmed yesterday that he won’t be heading to the Premier League anytime soon after completing a move to Italian side Inter Milan for a fee thought to be around the £10m mark.

Liverpool have also missed out on Victor Valdes after the former Barcelona goalkeeper agreed a free transfer to Manchester United, with the Reds’ Premier League rivals confirming a deal on Thursday. The Spanish stopper has proven his fitness following two months of training with United, and has put pen to paper on an 18-month permanent deal to end Liverpool’s hopes of giving him a trial with a view to a move.
