Liverpool supporters want the club to use the incoming £49million from the sale of Raheem Sterling to Manchester City to be spent on Alexandre Lacazette.

Sterling is set to undergo a medical ahead of a big-money move to the Etihad.

Although Brendan Rodgers and his squad are now in the Far East for their pre-season tour, Reds supporters know they need another striker after the sale of Sterling, the injury concern over Daniel Sturridge and the poor form of Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli last season.

When asked in a poll run by football website 90min, more than half of 60,000 fans voted for the Lyon striker ahead of Aston Villa's Christian Benteke, Gonzalo Higuain of Napoli and Venezuelan striker Salomon Rondon.

In total 55 per cent of 60,748 voters picked the 24-year-old Frenchman, with 22 per cent opting for Higuain, 18 per cent for Benteke and just five per cent for Rondon.

Lacazette, who has also been linked with Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain this summer, was brilliant for Lyon last season, scoring 27 goals in 31 Ligue 1 matches and 31 in 38 matches in all competitions.

He could cost as much as £28milllion - less than the £32.5m Aston Villa are demanding for Benteke - but there have been conflicting reports in recent days about whether he will try and force an exit from the French club or sign a new long term deal.
