Liverpool are set to make Barcelona an offer for winger Pedro as Brendan Rodgers aims to bolster his squad ahead of next season's Champions League campaign, according to the Daily Mirror.

Rodgers previously spoke of his desire to complete transfers for the World Cup, which starts next month, but may have to wait until after the competition with the 26-year-old is Spain's preliminary 30-man squad.

Pedro's future at Barcelona remains uncertain, with newly-appointed manager Luis Enrique suggesting at his press conference yesterday that there could be wholesale changes as the club for the players who are on the periphery of the team.

"The players must know that you cannot let a year pass at Barca. If they are not at the level required then there will be changes." Enrique said.

"We will reinforce the team in the best way possible, to be as competitive as possible. There is a market there - teams ask a lot of money for players. You must manage it all. We will reinforce, maybe in all lines of the team, to have the best players for the club and for me.

"I do not want to talk too much about individuals. Good and important players will stay. We will look at everyone and then see what we do. We do not have to make decisions now. We have time."

Liverpool have also been linked with Southampton's England winger Adam Lallana.
