Brendan Rodgers is believed to be chasing Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy.
With Luis Suarez no longer a Liverpool player, Rodgers has a gaping hole in his strikeforce - Rickie Lambert has been added but at 32 and with no Champions League experience he will provide cover in the squad.
Rodgers was chasing a deal for Wilfried Bony but is believed to have gone cool on the Swansea man.
The Liverpool Echo report that the Reds boss has turned his attention to Remy, who scored 14 Premier League goals in 26 appearances while on loan at Newcastle last season.

Liverpool still have the £75m from the Suarez sale to Barcelona to play with but Remy provides a cheap option with a release clause worth just £8m.
The 27-year-old was the lone bright spark in a miserable Newcastle season and he has been linked with a return to St James' Park as well as with moves to Arsenal and Tottenham.
