Here is the picture of Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal leaving Swansea City's Liberty Stadium yesterday, looking incredibly glum. He will be cheered up soon, however, with United closing in on the £36m signing of Anthony Martial from Monaco.

Van Gaal did not even complete his press conference after the game, leaving as he was being asked about transfers.

Late last night news broker of the rapid 19-year-old forward Martial's move to United, which could be completed today.

The French Football Federation confirmed Martial has left the national team to complete negotiations over a permanent switch from Monaco.

Martial has left France’s training camp for their upcoming international friendlies against Portugal and Serbia to travel to Manchester and put the finishing touches on what is expected to be a £36.3m deal.

The national team have confirmed that head coach, Didier Deschamps, accepted a request from the player himself to travel and complete the move, which will go through before Tuesday’s 6pm deadline providing talks and a medical go as planned.
