David De Gea has ended speculation over his future and signed a new five-year deal according to reports in Italy. The future of the Spanish goalkeeper has been brought into question with his current contract due to expire at the end of next season, rumours of a possible move to Real Madrid and the arrival of Victor Valdes at Old Trafford all conspiring to present a situation where the goalkeeper could depart. Yet that won't be happening now according to Italian media outlet SportMediaset.

Two Real Madrid defenders have been linked with moves to Manchester United but today brings bad news on both of them. Raphael Varane has been linked with a host of clubs but Los Blancos youth-coach and club legend Zinedine Zidane says the France international is the "future" of Real Madrid. Meanwhile, any hope of signing Sergio Ramos may have been complicated by claims that Chelsea have also entered the race and made contact with his agent.

Almost immediately following his big-money switch from Napoli to PSG, there were suggestions Cavani was unhappy in France. Those rumours haven't gone away and the Uruguay international continues to be linked with an exit. Should United pass on signing Falcao permanently, Cavani could be a good alternative.

Gareth Bale has reiterated yet again that he does not expect to leave Real Madrid and move to Manchester United. The Welshman has been criticised by fans recently, who seem to be levelling an accusation of greediness at the winger's feet. However, speaking to Spanish radio station Cadena SER, the former Tottenham player said: "I did an interview recently and I said I'm happy here, I've got several years left on my contract and I'm having a good time. We're winning trophies and I want to stay here." United tried to hijack Bale's world record move to Real Madrid.

Wilfried Zaha's Manchester United nightmare looks set to come to an end - permanently. The winger signed by Sir Alex Ferguson never made an impact under David Moyes and was packed off on loan at the end of last season and then again at the start of the current campaign. Currently back at former club Crystal Palace on a loan agreement, it's understood the Selhurst Park club are close to making it a permanent return. The fee being discussed for the 22-year-old is thought to be in the region of £6m, approximately half what United paid for him two years ago.
