Manchester United transfer news: Atletico Madrid defender Miranda says he has 'several' offers on the table

Brazilian defender also announces international retirement after Scolari snub

Manchester United target Joao Miranda has revealed he is in talks with ‘several’ clubs in England and Spain.

The Atletico Madrid centre back was a towering presence for Diego Simeone last season, forming a miserly partnership with Diego Godin that brought Atleti their first La Liga title in 18 years.

The 29-year-old Brazilian, who failed to make Luiz Felipe Scolari’s World Cup squad, insinuated he wanted to leave the club and had several offers on the table. Miranda has a €30m (£24m) buy-out clause in his contract, but insisted that would not prove obstructive in a future move.

"I have received several offers and we are negotiating," Miranda told Radio ESPN. "I have offers from the Spanish and English leagues, and other competitions.

"My agent is currently in Europe, resolving my future. My buy-out clause with Atletico Madrid is €30m, but that is negotiable."

In the interview Miranda also spoke of his disappointment at not being selected by Scolari – the Brazil boss instead opted for Napoli’s Henrique.

He added: "I'm sad. I was quite hopeful about getting called up and it was very disappointing to not make it into the 23-man squad.

“I'm enjoying a very good spell at the moment, both physically and technically. I believe I could have helped Brazil."

The former Sao Paulo won just seven caps since making his debut for the Selecao in 2009.

"I will continue my life with Atletico Madrid or another club, because I have offers.

"But my time with the national team is over."
