Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has said he believes that team-mate David De Gea is “fully committed” to the club.
The goalkeeper’s long-awaited move to Real Madrid collapsed at the eleventh hour during the last transfer window after an administrative error and, despite the Spaniard consequently signing a contract extension at Old Trafford, he has continued to be linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Real will not be allowed to register any new players in the next two transfer windows after being found guilty of breaking international regulations on signing young players by world governing body Fifa, although they intend to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The Spanish giants are still free to register new players this month, which has prompted speculation that they could step up their pursuit of De Gea in the coming weeks.
Schneiderlin, however, believes his team-mate has no thoughts of an imminent move to La Liga and is focused on performing well for United.
"David is a very important player in our squad," the French midfielder told MUTV. "We are very happy to have him and happy that he didn't go last summer. He is fully committed to this football club.
"When you have a player like this in goal, it's good for us, because we know we are not going to concede many goals and he is going to make some saves."
De Gea put in a man-of-the-match display in United’s narrow 1-0 victory at Liverpool on Sunday, making several vital saves to secure an important three points.

Following the win at Anfield, Louis van Gaal’s side are now 5th-placed in the Premier League table, two points off the top four and the Champions League qualification places.
United defender Chris Smalling also spoke about De Gea after his impressive display, claiming that the collapse of the 25-year-old’s move to Madrid gave the whole squad a confidence boost.
"When we knew he was lining up for us the whole season, it was a great feeling because he is one of the best," said Smalling.
“He pulled off a great save (at Anfield) and his distribution, especially some of those balls down to Wazza [Wayne Rooney] and Jesse [Lingard], were terrific and really set us up on the attack.
"David is a very calm guy but on the pitch he is talking to us as a unit,” he added.
"We know his game inside out so it's good to know that, if we get beat as a defence, we have a great chance to keep that ball out.”
