Radamel Falcao latest: Chelsea striker promises to return 'soon' despite links with Monaco move

Falcao could end his loan spell at Chelsea this month and return to Monaco, but he says he is still working with the club's medical staff to get back in action for the Blues

Radamel Falcao has delivered an update on his recovery from what Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink described as a “serious injury”, in which the striker has promised to return “soon” and stressed that he is doing everything he can to get back to full fitness.

The Telegraph suggest that Falcao could yet leave Chelsea before the 1 February transfer window deadline, with Monaco pondering the decision to recall the 29-year-old in a bid to get him match fit and utilise his talents for the remainder of their season.

Falcao has endured a disastrous spell in the Premier League, as his season-long loan at Manchester United in 2014/15 yielded just four goals while he has scored just once for the Blues in 11 appearances this campaign.

But despite fears that he could be facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to Hiddink’s admission that his injury is worse than first feared, Falcao has posted a picture on his Instagram page to give fans an update on his rehabilitation.

Alongside a picture of his training regime, Falcao wrote: “Working on my recovery. I think everything will return to normal soon by working with doctors and physios.

“Thanks to everyone for the support. Thank you to the medical staff. I really appreciate the social media messages that you send me.”

Falcao has already returned to Monaco once this month to have medical tests carried out, though the decision was taken not to recall the striker due to the injury – something that was confirmed by the club’s vice-president Vadim Vasilyev.

“It's true that we have spoken several times with Falcao,” Vasilyev told French TV channel RMC. “The first idea was that he returned to Monaco to play the second half of the season.

“He came to us, he was assessed by our doctors. Unfortunately, he was injured. We took the decision, it is better that he remains at Chelsea.”

Watford’s Odion Ighalo has been reported this morning as a potential replacement for Remy, though both Alexandre Pato and Carlos Bacca of Corinthians and AC Milan respectively remain on the Chelsea radar as well as West Brom’s Saido Berahino.
