Arsenal will have to make Sami Khedira their best paid player if they want to lure him from Real Madrid, according to reports.

The German international, said to be available for around £24m, currently earns more than £150,000 a week at Real Madrid - more than Arsenal's highest earner Mesut Ozil.

With Arsenal not having quite the same prestige as the Spanish giants, it is thought that the Gunners would have to top Khedira's current wages if they wanted to bring him to north London.

Arsene Wenger is understood to be keen to strengthen his midfield this summer, with Lars Bender another man thought to be on his radar.

However striking a deal for the 25-year-old could prove problematic, with Bayer Leverkusen having recently tied him into a new long-term deal.

The Arsenal boss is also reportedly keeping an eye on compatriot Morgan Schneiderlin and is close to a deal for Alexis Sanchez.
