Readers of Real Madrid leaning newspaper AS are overwhelmingly against a swap deal involving Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea and Real defender Sergio Ramos.

The Independent understands that Manchester United are serious about bringing Ramos to Old Trafford this summer and will use Real Madrid's pursuit of De Gea to push for the deal.

Ramos' real intentions are not entirely clear, with suggestions he is simply using United to improve terms on a new contract at the Bernabeu. Former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand earlier this week openly questioned whether Ramos was playing games. However, his stance could backfire with the club simply opting to let him go.

But should some sort of swap deal transpire, it seemingly would not be warmly received in Spain.

AS conducted a poll that showed of the plus-12,000 voters who took part, 73.2 per cent were against the idea of Real Madrid swapping Ramos for De Gea. 26.28 per cent were in favour of allowing the defender to leave in order to capture their first-choice candidate as Iker Casillas' long-term successor.
