Sevilla demand up to £18 million for Spanish international

Spain striker Alvaro Negredo has alerted Premier League clubs after expressing his admiration for England’s top flight.

Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido recently claimed that the club turned down a €17million (£13.9 million) bid from a top European side for the 27-year-old striker.

Del Nido said: “Unless an offer comes in well above the market value, we won't sell Negredo.”

The Spain international, who has notched eight goals in his 16 La Liga appearances this season for Sevilla, has played his entire career in his homeland. He has been linked with a host of clubs in recent months with Chelsea, Tottenham and Juventus all reported to be interested.

A report from Sevile-based Muchodeporte says Del Nido is on his way to London to negotiate the sale of Negredo to Tottenham. Sevilla are expected to demand up to £18 million for their star striker.

Negredo has been linked with a move away for some time from the La Liga side, with England his first choice destination.

“There comes a time when a cycle comes to an end and I don't know if it will be sooner or later [at Sevilla], but think the English League is great and I think my style of football would be well suited to it,” he told Sky Sports.

Negredo has admitted discussing English football with his international teammates who have made the move from La Liga. Negredo spoke to Premier League stars David Silva, Juan Mata, Santi Cazorla and Fernando Torres during the recent European Championships in Ukraine and Poland.

“I know Juan Mata and Fernando Torres really enjoy it in England, where there is a different way of experiencing football compared to Spain.”
