Tottenham Hotspur will not welcome the news that London rivals Chelsea have entered the race for their top target.
According to the Daily Express the Blues are looking at England Under-21 striker Saido Berahino , who was close to joining Spurs in the summer.
Berahino has barely been in Tony Pulis' plans this season, the West Bromwich Albion manager not impressed with the 22-year-old's attitude.
The striker is valued at around £20m and Chelsea, like Spurs with Harry Kane, see him as excellent cover and competition for main man Diego Costa.

He would act as an excellent foil to Harry Kane, although he can play behind the striker or on the left wing. The 19-year-old has three Bundesliga goals this season.

He could act as a viable replacement for Harry Kane from the bench, with Spurs lacking depth up front. Fulham are said to want a Spurs youngster in return.

The striker, who can also play out wide, is valued at around £24m. However, Marseille are desperate to keep him during this window and will offer an improved contract to keep him at the Stade Velodrome.

He has long been linked with a move out of Russia, although the highly rated former Standard Liege man is keen to play Champions League football. Despite his tender age of 18 years old, Henry looks set for a Premier League move in the near future, and with Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City also linked, Spurs could look to gain a march on their rivals with a January bid.

It may take an £8m bid to sign him and he would not be a guaranteed success, but if he can rekindle the form he showed to win Europe’s Golden Boy award in 2009 then the deal would prove a coup.

One player who may be staying at White Hart Lane this month is Andros Townsend .
The winger is clearly not part of Mauricio Pochettino's first-team plans but chairman Daniel Levy will not allow him to leave on loan.
The Daily Mail report that Levy is asking for the frankly ridiculous price of £14m. Watford and West Brom have been linked.
Townsend, 24, has been a favourite of England manager Roy Hodgson, but is unlikey to be in the Euro 2016 squad if he's not playing.
Sunderland may terminate the loan deal of American right-back DeAndre Yedlin six months early.
The 22-year-old is on a season-long deal at the Stadium of Light, but the South Shields Gazette report that he has not done enough to impress Sam Allardyce.
