The Blues' manager remains keen on strengthening his strike-force after early troubles this season

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho will renew his interest in AS Monaco striker Radamel Falcao when he watches him from the stands in Colombia’s international friendly against Belgium on Thursday.

Mourinho remains keen on signing a prolific striker to lead his blossoming attack according after seeing his current crop of Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto and Demba Ba struggle early on in the season.

All three have since got their accounts off the mark after Ba finally scored in the Champions League win over Schalke last week, while Mourinho also has the return of Romelu Lukaku to ponder in the summer.

The Belgian will also be in action when Mourinho travels to the Stade Roi Baudouin in Brussels, alongside current Chelsea players Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard,while on-loan Thibault Courtois is likely to be on the bench.

However, Mourinho is keen to see how Falcao deal with the bigger, physical threat that Belgium pose, with the belief that it resembles the Premier League’s style more than the opposition in French football poses.

Despite only joining Monaco in the summer for a club-record £53m from Atletico Madrid, reports have linked Falcao with a quick exit from the Ligue 1 side, and he remains an enticing option for Mourinho as he is not cup-tied for the Champions League with Monaco only gaining promotion to the top flight this summer.

There remains a problem over his wages though, as he currently earns a reported £295,000-a-week, and Chelsea would likely have to increase that figure due to UK tax laws taking 50 per cent of his potential wage – a factor that doesn’t take effect in Monaco due to its non-existent income tax.

Any offer for Falcao is likely to be near the £60m mark, and would almost certainly result in Eto’o leaving in the summer when his contract expires and the sale of Torres, who has shown signs of finding some of his better form this season following his £50m move in January 2011.
