Fulham manager Rene Maulensteen is hopeful of completing a deal for Everton centre-back John Heitinga after missing out on Leicester City's Liam Moore.
The Cottagers had hoped to sign the under-21 international but the Championship leaders rejected every approach.
Everton's Dutch defender has been looking to secure a move away from Goodison Park all month.
He firstly turned down a move to West Ham, and had looked set to move abroad with Roma and Galatasaray both showing an interest.
However it now seems, according to Sky Sports , that Fulham have persuaded him to move to London and the 30-year-old is in talks with the Cottagers and is set to undergo a medical.
Maulensteen needed defensive cover after allowing Aaron Hughes to join Queens Park Rangers.
Heitinga was named Everton's player of the year in 2012 but the form of Sylvain Distin and Phil Jagielka pushed him down the pecking order at Goodison Park.
He also started for the Netherlands as they lost out in the World Cup Final to Spain in 2010.

PSG have held a firm interest in the 28-year-old Frenchman for over a year and were expected to rival Arsenal for his signature in the summer. The Gunners' £10m bid was rejected and the Parisian club opted to bide their time despite Cabaye missing three games in an attempt to force a move away from St. James' Park.

The Reds have held a tentative interest in the 24-year-old after he figured prominently for the Ukraine against England in last year's World Cup qualifiers. Yarmolenko has scored eight league goals in sixteen appearances for Kiev this season, and has fourteen goals for Ukraine. Kop manager Brendan Rodgers is rumoured to prefer Salah, but the Swiss club continue to stall on any potential deal.

Ilkay Gundogan to Manchester United, £25m United’s search for midfield reinforcements has led them to Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan, although they could face a fight with Real Madrid to sign the Germany international. With Anderson at Fiorentina on loan, it is believed David Moyes has stepped up his interest in 23-year-old Gundogan whose contract expires in 18 months and is valued at £25m. Part of the attraction is that the midfielder is not cup-tied for the Champions League as he has been out for most of the season with a back injury, although German newspaper Bild reports that Real are also admirers. “I will soon make a decision that will be well considered. It’s still really open,” Gundogan said yesterday.
