Brendan Rodgers may have to make limited transfer dealings this January due to budget restrictions according to reports.

The Liverpool boss is set to meet with the club's owners this Friday to discuss the situation.

It is thought that Rodgers is keen to add a left-back, centre-back, midfielder and striker to his squad although he may now have to wait until the summer.

However according to reports the consolation for Rodgers may be that he is allowed to move for Basle's sought-after star Mohamed Salah, who is valued at around £16m.

The Egyptian, who is reportedly the target of a host of top clubs including Atletico Madrid, could be the solution to Rodgers' shortage of goals from midfield as he tries to keep his good start to the season going.

"The responsibility has always been the team," said Rodgers. 'We always want more. When you play in those attacking positions it's your job to create and score goals."
