Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic could leave Old Trafford this summer as Napoli show an interest in the out-of-contract Serbian, according to reports.

Despite United offering the 32-year-old an extension to his current deal, a number of clubs are confident of prizing him away from the English champions.

With David Moyes' side languishing in seventh place in the Premier League, out of the FA Cup and 2-1 down in their two-legged Capital One Cup semi-final against Sunderland - Vidic could grow weary of life at Old Trafford.

The former Spartak Moscow defender's representative Silvano Martina, however, said talk of a switch to Italy was premature.

"The player's contract is expiring, but Napoli haven't contacted me," Martina told Italian station Radio CRC.

"Man United have offered him a renewal and a number of other clubs have approached him."

When quizzed on Vidic's chances of joining Serie A leaders Juventus, he was equally obscure: "Offers from Italy? The player wants to finish the season at Manchester United and then we'll see."

After joining the Red Devils in 2006, the Serbian has clocked up two hundred appearances for the club and scored in last night's Capital One Cup semi-final first-leg defeat at the Stadium of Light.

Speaking after the game, Moyes also addressed rumours linking Real Madrid left-back Fábio Coentrão with a move to Manchester: "No, that's not true."

The under-pressure United boss has already tried once before to sign the Portuguese left-back, on the final day of the summer transfer window, but was pushed back with just moments to spare.
