Transfer news: Newcastle reportedly weighing up move for Inter Milan forward
Algeria international struggling to make an impact at the San Siro
Newcastle are reportedly weighing up a move for out of favour Inter Milan forward Ishak Belfodil as they look to lessen their dependence on Loic Remy.
With Papiss Cisse horribly out of form at St James' Park, the Magpies are said to be considering moving for Inter's Algerian international who is unhappy with his lack of playing time at the San Siro and is looking for first team football in order to boost his chances of going to the World Cup.
Despite only joining from Parma at the start of this campaign, the striker has struggled to make an impact and is concerned about securing his spot on the plane to Brazil in 2014.
"I obviously would like to play more often. The World Cup is coming up and I have to be in good shape," Belfodil told Le Buteur.
"The transfer window is approaching, so I will talk with the directors and see what's happening. I am happy at Inter, but Algeria coach Halilhodzic has made it clear that I have to play.
"That's why I'm considering my options. The transfer market could throw up a solution."
Given the well documented number of French speakers currently at Newcastle, Belfodil might find fitting in at the club an easier proposition than many other destinations.
