Transfer news: QPR midfielder Joey Barton 'turns down' chance to join Crystal Palace
The midfielder says the move was not right for his family
Crystal Palace have failed in a move to sign Joey Barton, according to the QPR midfielder.
Ian Holloway is doing his utmost to strengthen the Premier League new boys for what looks set to be a tough season.
Dwight Gayle, Marouane Chamakh and Jason Puncheon are amongst those to have arrived at Selhurst Park this summer, but Barton will not be joining them.
The 30-year-old spent last season on loan at French giants Marseille and looked all but certain to leave Loftus Road this summer.
However, Barton has re-established himself in the Hoops side and claims he has turned down a chance to move to Palace.
Responding to a Twitter user, he posted: "They tried but it's not the right move for me and my family right now. Hope they stay up as I like Holloway."
