The injury to Daniel Sturridge has led to inevitable speculation about who Liverpool might buy in January to plug the hole. It would seem Danny Ings of Burnley, who is enjoying a fine season that has seen him notch 15 goals already, is high on Brendan Rodgers' wish list.

Tottenham and Arsenal were thought to be keen on Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata. Yet before that rumour could get off the ground, the Spaniard has said he is perfectly happy where he is and that's where he wants to remain. “I only think about succeeding at Real Madrid,” he is quoted as saying.

It looks like the rumours linking the Gunners with Youssouf Mulumbu could also be a non-starter. The West Brom midfielder was linked with a move to the Emirates following quotes attributed to him during an interview in France. However, he has affirmed his commitment to the Baggies, even if admitting at the same time he wants to play at "the highest level possible".

With Dimitar Berbatov keen to move on, the need for reinforcements at relegation threatened Fulham is only increasing. According to the Sun, new boss Rene Meulensteen is targeting an £11m move for Balazs Dzsudzsak. The 26-year-old winger currently plays for Dynamo Moscow.
