Transfer news: Sunderland secure loan deal for Liverpool striker Fabio Borini

The Italian is eager for first team football after an injury ravaged spell at Anfield

Fabio Borini has completed a move to Sunderland, where he joins compatriot Paolo di Canio at the Stadium of Light.

The 22-year-old Liverpool forward has only scored twice for the Reds since a £10m move reunited him with Brendan Rodgers - under whom he played in the Chelsea academy and at Swansea.

His stay at Anfield has been beset by injury.

Liverpool's loan of Victor Moses, also 22, from Chelsea would appear to have further limited Borini's first-team chances.

The former Roma man will hope a move to the Black Cats - to become their 12th signing of the summer - will improve his international chances with the World Cup next year. He was part of the Italy squad for Euro 2012.

Sunderland lie second from bottom in the Premier League table, with only one point from their first three games. On Saturday the club confirmed the signing of South Korea international Ki Sung-Yueng on a season-long loan from Swansea.
