Michu has called on his club, Swansea, to snap up Iago Aspas on loan from Liverpool this January.

The Spanish forward has struggled to make an impact at Anfield following his £7.2m move from Celta Vigo this summer and is yet to score for the club.

However if Aspas is looking to play more first team football then Michu believes Swansea would make a good short-term move for the 26-year-old.

Michu said: “We (the Welsh club's Spanish players) are hoping he can come here on loan. It would be a pleasure to play with him. Iago has had injuries, but he has quality. He deserves to play in the Premier League.

“He has been unlucky. At Liverpool, they have Luis Suarez and (Daniel) Sturridge, who have scored a lot of goals. Suarez is, along with Diego Costa and others, one of the best strikers in Europe.”

It is a move that would no doubt appeal to Swansea as well because they narrowly missed out on signing the player this summer when Liverpool pipped them to it.
