Tony Pulis is chasing players who will roll their sleeves up and work hard for Crystal Palace in this month's winter transfer window as he bids to mastermind Premier League survival.

Since succeeding Ian Holloway as Palace boss Pulis has taken charge in nine games, claiming four wins and a draw, to ensure the Eagles are not left behind in the race to stay up.

Palace now sit in 18th place in the standings ahead of Saturday's match at Tottenham.

Pulis said: "We've got results which have given us an opportunity and a chance to push on now for the last 18 games. That's what everybody was hoping for.

"The window's open now and we're looking to do some business; we need to do some business. We have to bring in people to strengthen us.

"If you bring the right players in, if you can bring one or two in and they gel quickly enough then they can certainly help you turn your season around or give you that push that you need to get over the line.

"The important thing at this football club is that we bring players in who have got something to prove.

"I don't want to be bringing in players who just want to jog through six months. We need people who are going to roll their sleeves up, work hard and make a difference and add to what we've got already.

"I've got a list of players, the chairman (Steve Parish) has got that list of players. We need to get deals done if we're going to push on.

"That's always been my thoughts and that was before I got to the football club."

Pulis refused to be drawn on specific targets when asked about Blackburn defender Scott Dann.

He added: "I've been linked with about 40 different players as well. And this is the window - you get linked with everyone."

What is certain is that players will be leaving Selhurst Park.

Striker Kevin Phillips has already left and winger Jimmy Kebe is on his way to Leeds on loan for the rest of the season.

Pulis added: "Kebe is on his way to Leeds as we talk. That'll be a loan until the end of the season. We'll be losing a few players."

Phillips, who scored the goal which won the Championship play-off final for Palace last May, is keen to join a club near his midlands home, with Leicester reportedly keen to sign him.

"He's already left," Pulis added.

"He had a six-month contract. That has run out. I had a good chat with Kevin and he wants to get closer to home, which is the midlands, which I understand.

"He's 40 years of age now. He's an absolutely fantastic lad and did brilliantly here."
