Manchester United are said to be ready to offer up to £120m in order to land the most expensive player in the world Gareth Bale.

The Real Madrid winger is not enjoying the best of times at present despite the club’s incredible 22-game winning streak and the recent Club World Cup triumph. Certain sections of the Santiago Bernabeu has resorted to booing Bale if he is not at his best due to their love of Spanish midfielder Isco, and this has led United to believe they can lure Bale back to the Premier League.

Spanish newspaper AS report that the Wales international is growing increasingly unhappy with life in Spain, and that the move is being pushed forward by United manager Louis van Gaal.

Michael Owen believes that Liverpool should be going all out to sign France midfielder Paul Pogba, with the former Reds striker adamant that he can replace Steven Gerrard when he eventually hangs up his boots.

Speaking on BT Sport, Owen said: “Steven Gerrard's not going to go on forever so the ideal replacement there would probably be someone like Paul Pogba at Juventus.”

However, Italian newspaper Tuttosport report that Pogba has met with Paris St-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi regarding a monster £80m move back to France, despite a number of Premier League clubs remaining interested in the Juventus star which includes Manchester City and Chelsea.

One United player that may not be at the club much longer is youngster Adnan Januzaj. The Belgian has seen limited playing time since Van Gaal arrived at Old Trafford and the Daily Mail report that despite interest coming from former manager David Moyes and his Real Sociedad team as well as Inter Milan, United would prefer him to remain in the Premier League on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Both Hull and Everton are rumoured to be interested in the talented 19-year-old.

Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko has once again risked angering the Magpies faithful by reiterating his desire to join his “dream club” Arsenal. The Gunners are being linked with a £16m move for the Frenchman as they seek to strengthen an area of their team that has looked particularly thin in recent weeks following the injuries to Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey.

The Daily Mail claim that Arsene Wenger has identified the 25-year-old as a prime target in January as well as 21-year-old Ipswich defender Tyrone Mings, though the Championship star could cost as much as £10m.

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech will not be leaving Chelsea in January despite losing his place again to a fit-again Thibaut Courtois for Monday’s 2-0 victory over Stoke, but his agent has admitted that he could still join Liverpool or Arsenal if the opportunity arises.

Speaking to Czech newspaper Sport, Cech’s agent Viktor Kolar said: “It’s unlikely Petr will leave Chelsea in the January transfer window. The club and coach want to keep him to help win the title.

“I think Arsenal should have made an offer to him. I think Petr would be considering it.

“Liverpool need to strengthen their position in goal and they know Petr will be available in the summer. We’ve been in contact with Real Madrid but they don’t need a keeper just now. But we will discuss it again in March.”

Finally, Cesc Fabregas has called on Chelsea to pull out all the stops in order to sign Lionel Messi. Speaking to Radio Marca in Spain, Fabregas was asked if he would like to see the Barcelona forward strutting his stuff at Stamford Bridge, to which he replied: 'I wish! Why not? I'd love that to happen. I'd be all for it.”

However, Fabregas understood that any move was highly unlikely and added that he believes Messi deserves to stay at the Nou Camp until he retires.
